DeLorean DMC-12 Owner, Anthony Zamfoti creates a place for the community to share their experiences with the new breed.
Anthony Zamfoti’s appreciation with the DeLorean DMC-12 is a strong one. Not only he is a current DeLorean owner, a long time enthusiast of John DeLorean, and all things revolving around his life the original DeLorean Motor Company, Anthony has always been fascinated with the history of the DeLorean DMC-12 stainless steel sports coupe. He also continues to have a strong interest towards any future developments surrounding our iconic cars. ”We know previously, that DMC Houston had made announcements in the past to bring back the DeLorean DMC-12 as a refit, reboot, or EV vehicle,” said Anthony. “Also, as we know those ideas never materialized over the years.” continued Anthony.
The DeLorean Alpha5 electric vehicle has captured the public and our very active DeLorean community. Since the release of the 15 second advertisement back in February of 2022, Anthony felt a need to connect to people that have an interest of the “EVolution” vehicle. “Today, our strong and vibrant DeLorean community are witnessing so much activity going on behind the scenes revolving around the Alpha5” Anthony explains, “It really feels like something may very well materialize this time.” Anthony continues, “Since that moment of the 2022 Superbowl, when a teaser commercial was aired, myself and many others in the DeLorean community were very surprised! In the days that followed, I could see the theories, rumors, and debates already running rampant through the online DeLorean community.”
Anthony felt the need to create a special Facebook group page focusing on the “future” of the DeLorean EVolved project. He asked himself, “Wouldn’t it be nice if we had a common place to share and discuss factual Alpha5 news, as it became available?” Anthony has a deep love for our classic DeLorean community as he continues, “I have (a) deep respect for John DeLorean, his family, and his legacy, and I wanted to preserve the existing online groups that pay homage to him and the DMC-12.”
With a click and insert, Anthony’s special group page has become a reality. “Enter, the “DeLorean EVolved” Facebook group!” rejoiced Anthony. “The plan was to make it a place for current DeLorean enthusiasts and owners, AND future fans and owners of not only the classic DeLorean, but also the Alpha5!” explained Zamfoti.
As the news of the DeLorean EVolved Alpha5 program continue to develop, both the DeLorean community and the general public are genuinely interested towards the development, production, and the distribution of this new breed that badges the DeLorean name. “There are going to be people who know very little about the original car and are solely interested in the Alpha5 and any future vehicles from DMC Houston and DeLorean Motors Reimagined (DMR).” Anthony continues with excitement, “We want to welcome those people as well so we can grow our community. We have always been a very supportive community and I want to extend that to new Alpha5 owners as well.”
The DeLorean community began as a owners based fraternity since John Z. DeLorean began to ship the famed DeLorean DMC-12 stainless steel sports coupe in 1981 into the United States. Various clubs were forming throughout the country. In 1982, when the factory was forced to close by the British Government, the DeLorean community of owners began to expand and bond together to collaborate their experiences, troubleshooting problems, and sharing their journeys with their DeLorean DMC-12 automobiles. The internet development of the early 90’s exploded the community to include owners, technicians, as well as our “fans” of the beloved DeLorean DMC-12 automobile throughout the world. Anthony experienced our rich and vibrant community long before he became the owner of VIN 01235 (known to the community as “TimeLord.”). Anthony adds, “Just like our current online community has branched out and created forums related to technical info, fandom, miscellaneous, and other various groups, so shall the Alpha5 owners and fans.” Anthony continues, “Consider the DeLorean EVolved group as a gateway to bridge the new owners and fans of future DMCH vehicles, and the already well established community of John DeLoreans legacy and dreams!”
The DeLorean EVolved Facebook group that Anthony created is a public group, open to those that have an interest with the DeLorean EVolved Alpha5 program. It has grown to over 1,500 members since the creation of the group in February, 2022 and continues to grow.
