Small show in OH I went to. Finally got my first award – kid’s choice, although I don’t have anything physical to show for it. (The 5 ton military truck came in 2nd). Next to my car is a 1980 Chevy Monza survivor with the rad-era stripes.
Almost everyone was super friendly, and I think in what was a first, no one touched the car without invitation. Only one mom-basement type loudly proclaimed “THIS IS THE WORST ENGINE EVER”. This was despite me somehow making the 45 minute drive without incident on a 40 year old engine (an engine that magically, was not made by GM).
Inside was a screen-used KITT car. I declined the chance to pay $15 to get my picture in it.
Far and away the most common question I get asked is “how long have you had it”. The answer is hardly of any consequence, I guess it’s just a conversation opener.
